# Pulse

> The floating status indicator that shows dictation and Magic Edit activity.

Pulse is a small floating indicator that appears near the bottom-right of your screen. It shows when Scout is listening, processing, or idle.

## States

| State          | What you see                                                 |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Idle**       | Small waveform icon — click it to start dictating            |
| **Listening**  | Expanded capsule with an animated waveform, label, and timer |
| **Processing** | Pulsing animation while text is being finalized              |

## Click to dictate

Click the idle Pulse icon to start a push-to-talk dictation session, just like holding the dictation hotkey. Double-click to reset Pulse back to the bottom-right corner if you've moved it.

## Showing and hiding

Pulse is **on by default**. You can toggle it in **Settings → General → Pulse**.

When Pulse is hidden, dictation still works normally via hotkeys — the indicator is purely visual.

  If Pulse gets stuck in an unexpected position, double-click it to snap it back to the bottom-right corner of your screen.
