Voice commands let you insert punctuation, symbols, formatting, and lists without touching the keyboard. Say the command while dictating and Scout converts it in real time.

How detection works

Scout normalizes your words and checks them against its built-in command list. When you say “hello comma how are you,” Scout recognizes “comma” as a command and outputs hello, how are you. Some commands work inline (like punctuation), while others (like list items and case transforms) work best at natural boundaries — after a pause, at the start of a phrase, or after another command.

Tips for best results

  • Use any alias. Most commands have multiple ways to say them — “exclamation mark” and “exclamation point” both work.
  • Commands are case-insensitive. Say them however feels natural.
  • Chain commands freely. “New paragraph number one” produces a blank line followed by 1. .
  • Some commands need a natural break. List items and case transforms work best at the start of a phrase or after a pause, not mid-sentence.
